The Sr.
Manager of Strategic Accounts (SMSA) is the sales leader responsible for driving financial results with EPRI's largest and most complex customers which are crucial to the ongoing financial health of the Institute.
The SMSA directly handles some accounts while managing a remote account team, directing strategy, account management and business relations to ensure both funding continuity and growth.
The SMSA provides objective advice based on market trends, client financial capabilities, regulatory impacts and other relevant factors to drive EPRI funding.
The SMSA is also responsible for new business development in the assigned region, both directly and through strategy development and execution with direct reports.
The SMSA serves as an external representative for the Institute and addresses key industry groups and clients on a variety of issues to further the R&D mission and investments.
Key
Responsibilities:
Leads the sales process to meet assigned objectives.
Provides day to day direction for the Strategic Account Executives (SAEs) and ensures sales objectives are achieved.
Ensures that proper sales management practices are utilized by the SAEs including sales funnel management, call reports, account plans, value statements and engagement summaries.
Provides technical and business development support to staff as needed to create opportunities and drive closure of businessDrives value delivery and documentation in conjunction with sales team.
Develops and leads execution of regional business development plans, working with others as well as independently to execute those plans and drive revenue growth.
Develops and maintains relationships with key decision makers within industry ally/participant organizations, NGO's and the regulatory community in assigned region to further EPRI's mission and grow funding.
Meets assigned targets for sales volume and strategic objectives for the region and those accounts handled directly.
Coaches and mentors team through regular field visits with SAEs and clients, observing all aspects of the customer engagement process in action.
Establishes and manages budgets to plan.
Education and
Experience:
Minimum fifteen years' experience in selling complex technical solutions to the electric utility or similar industry with a demonstrated track record of sales success.
Demonstrable track record of sales success as an individual contributor and sales leader.
Proven track record of strategic account management and sales best practices.
Demonstrated track record of operating at the c-level including negotiations, business development and relationship management.
Demonstrated depth of knowledge of the energy industry including utility operations.
Bachelor's degree required.
Engineering degree preferred along with advanced degree.

Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Expert presentation development and delivery skills.
Strong PC skills including the full Microsoft Office Suite.
Willing to travel approximately 50% of the time.

This job can be located anywhere within EPRI's southeast region.
